About The Last Howl

In 2004, Wildlife Filmmaker Matt Paproski and his brother Troy gave the world a behind-the-scenes look at documentary filmmaking as they raised the first wolf pup for the first season of their new TV series, “Wildlife Wranglers.” However, things took a turn. Troy suffered a stroke, putting him in a wheelchair and forcing him to leave the project.
After a four-year hiatus, Matt’s adventure began anew, trying to start over on his own with a second pup named “Aurora”, rescued from a fur farm. Matt soon added another wolf to the family, a black male pup named “Timber”.
Matt continued his 20-year journey, documenting the search for the best home possible for the wolves. From cross-country educational tours to setting a world record, Matt and the wolves grow close, becoming family. The film shows the challenges they’ve faced, from government issues to near bankruptcy and having to say goodbye to the wolves as they age.

All of this is personally shared by Matt, with Troy, who has returned for the home stretch, as they interview experts about conservation, wolf culling, and wildlife abuse. What future do these animals, the brothers, have come to love face? The Last Howl is not just another documentary. It’s an adventure, an exposé, and an empowering, heartfelt message about the bonds of family, by blood or by choice.
